26-29 May 2025 Spring School "Decarbonising Hard-to-Abate Transport Modes"
Our group took part in the Spring School "Decarbonising Hard-to-Abate Transport Modes", organized by the Department of Energy (DENERG), Politecnico di Torino, from May 26th to 29th. This initiative, hosted by the DENERG Excellence Department, aims to provide students with the knowledge and tools needed to address the technical and regulatory challenges of transport decarbonization.
We contributed to the session titled:
"Decarbonization of Heavy-Duty Road Transport: A Techno-Economic and Life Cycle Perspective."
During this session, Dragan Simic (AIT), Ezio Spessa, and Antonella Accardo (DENERG – Politecnico di Torino) presented in-depth data and analyses showcasing the progress of the EMPOWER project, focusing on the environmental and economic assessment of decarbonization strategies for heavy-duty vehicles.
The session also featured contributions from:
▪️Prof. Z. Samaras (Aristotle Univ.), discussing key results of the EU projects ESCALATE and Le Mesurier.
▪️Dr. D. Jose and Rose Nangah Mankaa (INaB-RWTH Aachen), presenting the TranSensus project and Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA) of battery electric vehicles.
▪️Gianfranco Malagrinò, providing a synthetic analysis of heavy-duty applications, linking to EMPOWER's themes.
